You’re having a winter wedding and now you need to organise lighting… Lighting really adds volumes to a wedding, whether powered lighting or light from candles and other decorative items. For a winter wedding, the choice is vast and the availability means you can probably get more for your money and create something spectacular at your reception venue.

Some of the lighting to consider:

Lanterns

Lanterns make for a lovely addition to your wedding décor. They are a really gorgeous choice for centrepieces – probably because they look pretty both when the candle is lit and before – and you can really adapt them to your style and theme. A flickering candle on each reception table or around the dancefloor is looks particularly effective in wintertime when there is less day light and everyone is snug inside.

Welcome Lights

These tasteful arches of lights, originate from early Germany, and are traditionally displayed in on window sills to welcome people to your home. What a lovely item to include on your wedding day… Place a couple of these lights in prominent places throughout your reception venue; they’ll look gorgeous when the sun goes down.

Fairy Lights

An obvious one, and a choice that looks amazing all year round! Fairy lights just make everything look better! String them wherever and however you like to get the look you’re after. Have them draped behind you for your first dance or entwined in some foliage overhead; whatever you fancy!

Twig Trees

Pre-lit ‘twig trees’ are all the rage at the moment and it is easy to see why. Their stripped back, minimalist design goes wonderfully if you’re a lover of all things Scandinavian and simple. For a winter wedding, they are the ‘piece de resistance’ and even though they have quite a high price tag, you know you’ll be able to put it up each Christmas to come and think back to your wedding day.
