If you're thinking of having a destination wedding, most people will immediately think of getting married in the beach but that doesn't have to be your only option! With its rich history, culture and unique landscape, Cyprus offers plenty of exciting and beautiful alternatives to your typical 'beach destination wedding'.

1. Church

There are so many gorgeous churches of all sizes in Cyprus and the same process applies for booking a religious ceremony as it does for a civil ceremony which you can read about on our legal requirements page. There are plenty of options too for all types of religion.

2. Hotel/Beachfront

While it isn't possible for your actual ceremony to take place on sand, there are so many stunning hotels in Cyprus that offer spaces either in their gardens or overlooking the beach on terraces or under gazebos  for your civil ceremony. You can still access the beach to have some amazing photographs after your ceremony and you can hold your reception at the same place straight afterwards!

3. Town Hall

If you're after some interesting and historic architecture as a backdrop for your big day, why not consider local Town Halls as your wedding venue? Most town halls can accommodate both large and small wedding parties and often have some lovely gardens for photo opportunities after the ceremony.

4. Mountain Resort

If you're looking for a break in the humidity, away from the coast is the stunning Troodos mountains full of wonderful traditional villages and even spa resorts which make the perfect backdrop for your wedding. The choice is yours as you can have either a religious or civil ceremony and there are plenty of sweet little tavernas or hotels for your wedding reception.

5. Yacht/Boat Wedding

This is a fantastic option to get you and your guests out catching a breeze on the sea. You can use a yacht for just your wedding reception and have your ceremony on shore although it is possible to have your ceremony on the yacht as well – and you'll get some amazing photos in the sunset!

6. Cypriot Traditional 'Old House'

If you'd like something a bit more rustic, why not consider a traditional Cyprus 'old house' for a civil ceremony. It is perfect if you'd like to incorporate some traditional customs and provides a very intimate and secluded setting. Most traditional houses have beautiful gardens for your photographs and then you can choose anything from a lively taverna to a luxurious hotel for your wedding reception.
