It is not as hard as you think to plan a wedding abroad without the help of a wedding planner or tour operator package. Today on the getting married in Cyprus blog we'll show you just how easy it can be!

Set Out Your Budget

If you know your overall budget then start by listing all the things you need to book (e.g. venue, ceremony, photographer, florist etc). As it is a destination wedding, do not forget to factor in accommodation and flights into your costs! Once you have got a list of everything you need to pay for, breakdown your overall budget and allocate an amount to each item on your list. This will really help you with the next step!

Start With Key Elements

Once you have budgets for everything in mind, start looking into the most important things first. Have a look on our website at some of our recommended suppliers to help you find a venue and decide on whether you would like a civil or if you choose a religious ceremony you will need to find a religious venue as well.

Focus On Big Expenses

After booking the ceremony and venue, what have you allocated most funds towards? Focus on these big ticket items next such as flights, accommodation, photographer, videographer or perhaps you want a live band. Whatever you priorities are, make sure to get them booked as soon as you can to ensure you can get the supplier you want on your date and have the budget to cover it.

Keep Track Of Everything

Set up a notebook or spreadsheet with your original list and keep notes of everything you’ve booked. Include contact details, date of your original booking, deposit amount and date paid and note the final balance and due date. Tick things off once they are done so you know it’s been dealt with and soon you’ll see your list get whittled down!

Check In With Suppliers

Closer to your date, make sure you check in with all your suppliers to make sure they have all the information they need and that nothing has changed. You can do this easily via email, phone or you could even organise a short trip to Cyprus to meet with suppliers in person if you haven’t done so already.

Delegate

You can’t do everything alone and getting married in another country can be quite stressful so as the day draws near make sure you delegate jobs to family and friends. You may ask your parents to check in on suppliers or your sister to meet the hair and makeup artist in reception on the day and escort them to your room. Ensure that everyone is clear one what they need to do to help out.

Share Contact Details

Draw up a list of all suppliers and key members of the wedding party such as parents, siblings, best man or bridesmaids and hand out to people so on the day, any hiccups can be sorted without stressing you about it. If it looks like the bridal party is running 15 minutes late, a quick call to the best man will save a lot of worry that the bride isn’t showing up!

And finally, relax and enjoy your day!
