With all the planning a wedding takes, it’s easy to forget what happens at the end of your wedding day. Most couples will have booked somewhere to spend their wedding night and then will either be going on their honeymoon straight afterwards or will have various plans for their first day of married life.

One of our top tips would be to give this first night a little thought – what to pack, how your bags will be waiting for you etc – as it will ensure that you kick off with that honeymoon feel straight away. Here are our packing suggestions for your wedding night that might have slipped your planning net:

Day One Outfit

You’ll have drawn your trump outfit card on your wedding day but that doesn’t mean you have to go back to ordinary on your first day of marriage. Plan out your outfit for day one; a floaty white dress for her and a white shirt for him, maybe?! You only get to be newlyweds once!

Cards

If you are going straight on from your wedding night on honeymoon, why not bring your cards with you? Some couples leave all their cards and presents for when they get back from their honeymoon, but another alternative is to take them with you and decorate your destination with all your friends and family’s good wishes and congratulations.

Midnight Snack

It might seem mad, as you’ll have just come from a wedding full of food and drink, but believe me, you’ll be starving! Couples often say how little they actually eat and drink on their wedding day due to pure adrenalin and excitement of the day. Arrange with your hotel for a snack pack or create a little picnic basket for yourself to leave in your room. You’ll be so grateful for it!

Disposable Camera

Not being able to see the photos instantly makes for a welcome and special change for your wedding, wedding night and honeymoon. Pack a disposable camera and take some snaps of the first day of being Mr and Mrs. These are lovely photos to look back on and it will be something else to look forward to (most places like Boots do quick developing times now) once you’re back to reality.

Ladies – Flat Shoes!

If you can cope wearing heels the day after your wedding, you haven’t done enough dancing! Pack a pair of flats for day one of marriage. If you don’t use them then they pack up small but I can guarantee your feet will be happy to see them!
